The Burchfield Penny Art Center at Buffalo State College will be holding the Fashion and Textile Technology program’s 9th annual Runway fashion show on April 16. The theme this year will be Eco-lution: Ecology plus Evolution.

This year’s fashion show will feature wallpaper designs on display from Charles E. Burchfield during his time at M. H. Birge & Sons Wallpaper Company. Burchfield worked for the Buffalo-based company back in the 1920’s, before quitting in 1929 to become a painter. The wallpaper designs will be incorporated into the fashion lines.

Eco-luction — encouraging people to be thoughtful with their purchases, consumption and waste.

The fashion show’s theme, Eco-lution: Ecology plus Evolution, emphasizes sustainability and thoughtfulness pertaining to the environment. It also shows the development from simple to complex – the materials used for the outfits, the student designers, and the changing of the guard in the fashion industry, moving into something thoughtful and long lasting.

The event, which takes place at the Campbell Student Union, will be broken down into two shows (3pm and 8pm), featuring 25 student designers. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.

After the show, the outfits will be on display at the Burchfield Penny Arts Center.
