Sugar City is hosting a Late Night Talk Show that will be produced in front of a live studio audience. This is a fantastic local concept, and one that you don’t see come around very often. The Early Show is not just a talk show, it’s also a variety show featuring some of Buffalo’s most alternative guests (and maybe a couple main stream guests for good measure).
There will be a desk, there will be a couch, there will be a mildly useless sidekick, there will be guest performers, there will be special interviews, there will be a live studio audience, and of course there will be many surprises.
Along with plenty of antics, there will also be live music featured during the show. The inaugural show kicks off on Saturday, March 12 and includes the following hosts/guests:
Don Paul Chief (Meteorologist, WIVB/WNLO-TV)
Kevin Thurston (Buffalo Small Press Fair)
Pat Kewley (funny guy)
The Great Ireenie (magician)
AcroYoga (indescribable feats of balance and strength)
Special appearance by L.A. death surf garage rockers Peg Leg Love (Deathrecords)
“Their dark sound is supposed to flirt with the scary side of Punk Rock, with a mix of Rockabilly Pop and Punk. With pounding drums, a Reverb Surfing Guitar, a dark bass line and some lugubrious vocals, PEG LEG LOVE take the Stage, to play their short and fast retro tunes that evoke The Cramps or Gun Club. It’s obscure but not bleak, it’s tough but upbeat at the same time, energetic and windy, and it made me think about a music scene I haven’t known but only heard about. A Pop sound that Darkens its nature without taking itself too seriously.”
