The Buffalo Orienteering Club (BOC) was established to connect people with a common enthusiasm for using topographical maps and compasses to navigate their surroundings. BOC also incorporates some challenges into its navigational exercises by adding various thought provoking elements to the mix.
By using flags as markers (called controls) orienteers are tasked with locating the controls that make up a course. Some people attempt to accomplish the actions as quickly as they can, while others simply enjoy locating the controls at a leisurely pace. In the end, the courses are designed to appeal to people who enjoy being outdoors, while navigating their surroundings.
Those interested in being part of this fun group can either join this Facebook group to learn more about the outings, or they can become a club member on Meetup.com (currently over 100 members).
