Villa Maria College’s Fashion Design & Merchandising Program will be putting on their annual fashion show on April 22.
Each year, Villa’s Fashion Design and Merchandising students collaborate to put on a big, end-of-the-year fashion show that showcases the work the students have done throughout the year. “The show is mean to highlight our students’ raw talent and dedication to their fields as well as the design skills and professionalism they learn as students in our fashion program,” said spokeswoman Kristen Schober.
All of the Fashion Design and Merchandising students are involved in the fashion show. The show is produced by a group of seniors each year. This year’s production seniors are Lauren Weber, Victoria Candelario and Alicia Cepeda. The promotional graphic design work was done by another senior, Grace Gruarin.
The overall themes of ‘balance’ are justice and peace, part of the core values of Villa Maria College. Balance is made up of 8 scenes:
- Finding Balance: a competition for high school students interested in pursuing an education in fashion
- Asymmetry: showcasing the work of Villa students that was inspired by the fashions of the 1920s
- Harmony: showcasing the work of Villa students that was inspired by the Global Commune Trend of 2016
- Equality: showcasing the work of Villa students that was inspired by the two Pantone colors of the year: Serenity & Quartz
- Symmetry: showcasing the work of Villa students that was inspired by the Innovation Trend of 2016
- Cataclysm: the work of graduating senior & fashion show producer Lauren Weber
- Perspective: the work of graduating senior & fashion show producer Alicia Cepeda
- Pure Intentions: the work of graduating senior & fashion show producer Victoria Candelario
The fashion show takes place on April 22 at 7 pm at Villa’s Athletic Center
